SUMMARY:British Canoeing White Water Award
DESCRIPTION:The White Water Award is designed to develop your ability to apply appropriate decision making skills for a safe day out white water paddling in a kayak or OC1. It endorses your skill\, judgment and decision making to ensure a successful day on rivers up to grade 2. You will be confident in planning and undertaking journeys on moving water with proficient skills to be in control throughout. Your award should be seen as a sound basis for building the experience and knowledge associated with Progressive White Water Award holders. \n\n\n\nThe amount of training required for the White Water Award depends on prior experience; but as a guideline\, participants should expect to spend two days honing their skills\, with either ‘continual assessment’ or a separate half- or one-day assessment. \n\n\n\nThis 2-day course is intended to provide training tailored to the individual needs of participants and\, for those who meet the require standard\, an opportunity for assessment for this Award. You should already be an experienced and confident flat-water paddler before attending the course\, ideally with some moving or white-water experience. \n\n\n\nMinimum 2\, maximum 6 candidates. \n\n\n\nParticipants should bring (I can provide * if you do not have these): \n\n\n\n\n* White-water kayak / OC1 and paddle (please contact me to check whether your craft is suitable!)\n\n\n\n* Buoyancy aid\, helmet\, spray-deck\n\n\n\nPersonal paddling clothing suitable for the weather (minimum wetsuit\, preferably dry-suit) – you will get wet!\n\n\n\n* Personal safety equipment (throwline\, knife\, towline\, tape/sling\, karabiner)\n\n\n\nCanoe Wales / British Canoeing Membership card (if you are a member!)\n\n\n\nLunch / snacks / drinks\n\n\n\nCash for parking (c.£4) and toilets (20p)\n\n\n\nHand sanitiser\, face masks\, etc.\n\n\n\n\nThe course will be based on an appropriate Grade 2 river in the Brecon area\, most likely the upper stretches of the Usk and Wye. \n\n\n\nWhat to Do Now\n\n\n\n\nContact me as soon as possible if you have any questions.\n\n\n\nComplete and return to me (by e-mail or post) the attached Booking Form.\n\n\n\nPay the course fee of £120:by buying a ‘ticket’ using the link belowor via BACS\, cheque or if your employer or another organisation is paying (ask me for details).\n\n\n\nLet me know if you are able to bring your own craft (which might be better than those that I can provide!).\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cancellation Policy\n\n\n\nIf the course is cancelled by me\, I will offer a choice between transferring fees to the next available course or receiving a full refund. Refunds will only include fees paid to me for the event\, compensation will not be paid for incidental costs or expenses and I recommend that candidates use refundable vendors for accommodation\, travel etc. If you cancel your place after booking\, you will be liable for the full course fee unless I can recover some or all of the cost of your place from elsewhere (e.g. if you can find another\, additional\, candidate to take your place).

SUMMARY:British Canoeing Core Coach Training
DESCRIPTION:The British Canoeing Coach Award is an entry point qualification designed for people whose core function is to coach paddlers looking to develop their skills in the given discipline or environment. \n\n\n\nThe Coach Award content is delivered through 2-day Core Coach Training and 2-day Discipline Specific Training (22 disciplines currently available\, including Sheltered Water Kayak and/or Canoe; White Water Kayak; White Water Canoe; and Open Water Canoe). \n\n\n\nThe two-day Core Coach Training course introduces the shared coaching content that is relevant to all coaches at this level\, exploring different approaches to coaching\, understanding and enabling learning; and some core coaching skills. It is not specific to any one discipline and will make use of a variety of craft to explore different approaches to coaching and introduce some core coaching skills. The course will be a blend of classroom and water-based activity; and you will also be supported a personal coaching development plan to enable you to take your learning into practice after the course. \n\n\n\nSubsequent Discipline Specific Training will then focus on how to coach discipline-specific technical and tactical skills\, helping coaches to plan and deliver safe\, enjoyable\, progressive coaching sessions and explore specifics to help coach typical athletes/learners relevant to the discipline. \n\n\n\nYou can find more details about the course at https://www.britishcanoeingawarding.org.uk/level-2-coach-award/. \n\n\n\nYou need to meet the following prerequisites before attending the course: \n\n\n\n\nFull ‘on the water’ membership of Canoe Wales / British Canoeing (etc.); and\n\n\n\nA base level of knowledge about the discipline(s) you wish to coach.\n\n\n\n\nMinimum 4\, maximum 6 candidates. \n\n\n\nThe course will be run by Ant Morgan\, assisted by Steve Rayner. \n\n\n\nThe course fee will be £200 which includes coaching\, equipment and certification. \n\n\n\nWhat to Do Now\n\n\n\n\nContact me as soon as possible if you have any questions.\n\n\n\nComplete and return to me (by e-mail or post) the attached Booking Form.\n\n\n\nPay the course fee of £200:by buying a ‘ticket’ using the link belowor contact me for other methods\, e.g. let me have details if your employer or another organisation is paying\n\n\n\nArrange Full ‘On the Water’ Membership of your ‘Home Nation’ Governing Body\, if you don’t already hold this (join Canoe Wales online\, if you live in Wales\, using the ‘join now’ button at https://www.canoewales.com/).\n\n\n\nLet me know if you are able to bring your own craft (I can supply most\, but if you have your own kayak\, in particular\, you might prefer to use it instead of my dodgy ‘club’ ones!).\n\n\n\nIt would be helpful if before the course you could complete Coach Award eLearning. You can access this:\n\neither by registering formally for the Coach Award with your Home Nation Association via their membership portal (which you will need to do anyway at some point before assessment as a Coach\, cost £45 – contact me if you need advice or assistance on doing this);\n\n\n\nor directly via the link above by paying £20.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse Cancellation Policy\n\n\n\nIf the course is cancelled by me\, I will offer a choice between transferring fees to the next available course or receiving a full refund.
